What you get
The signature pose
Your pet lies stretched out on old floorboards, head down on the paws, lit from one side by a single warm source. It suits calm, regal personalities and long-bodied dogs. Every style has one signature pose, and your pet keeps their own face, coat and markings.
Photos that work best
A full-body shot in soft side light is ideal. Add a sharp close-up of the face so we get the eyes and markings right. Three to five sharp photos at your pet's eye level, without filters, give us the most to work with.
Frames that suit it
The Museum frame (wide espresso moulding brushed with gold) was designed for this style. The Gallery antique gold with a wide mat is the brighter alternative. Every print comes as a 4:5 rectangle, in portrait or landscape, or as a square.
Questions about the Old Master style
Is it a Renaissance pet portrait?
It draws on the same tradition of dark backgrounds and dramatic light that people often call Renaissance or Old Master style. There are no costumes or crowns: your pet stays exactly as they are, rendered with the gravity of a museum portrait.
Can you add my pet's name?
Not on the artwork itself. A name plate would fight the period look. We include a gift note with framed orders instead.
How does the free preview work?
Upload your photos and we render two watermarked previews free. After that, extra previews are $5 each and the full amount is credited toward your order.
What if it doesn't look like my pet?
Re-roll the preview before you buy. If a print arrives and you are not happy, tell us within 30 days and we will redo or refund it.
